Lynn Louise Wonders, MA, LPC is the Founder and Director for Marietta Counseling for Children and Adults, LLC. After working over the past five years as a counselor at two private preschools in the Northwest Atlanta area, serving as Director of Family Services at a north Cobb child development center and providing play therapy and psychotherapy services for children and adults in the Marietta area, Lynn realized a true need in the Northwest Atlanta community for a more specialized and expanded center for counseling that serves the needs of children, parents and families. She chose to collaborate with other therapists who also specialize in helping children, families and adults with parenting concerns.
Lynn provides counseling for children, parents, adults who are not parents, couples and families. One of her specializations is in helping people through the process of divorce which includes relationship counseling for couples or individual counseling for women who are contemplating divorce or facing the healing of the actual divorce process. She also works with children whose parents are divorcing or have divorced.
Parenting and Co-parenting training/coaching is a large part of the process of supporting children in their own healing and Lynn provides this for parents and even step-parents as well.
She views counseling as a partnership and as a dynamic interactive process. Lynn states, "My approach to counseling whether it be with children or adults is based in theory that believes all people want to feel significant, connected and capable and therefore all behavior has a purpose...Effective counseling experiences require active commitment and participation on the part of the client (with children this includes the parents). Together we set goals and determine will frequently revisit these goals, evaluating where we are on the process of making progress so that each client knows how we are doing as a partnership as we go."
Lynn is an active member of the Licenced Professional Counselors Association as well as the Associations for Play Therapy. She participates in professional supervision with Trudy Post-Sprunk, LMFT, LPC, President of the Georgia Play Therapy Association and is working toward her requirements to be a Registered Play Therapist.
In addition to having provided play therapy services for children and psychotherapy services for adults for over five years as a counselor, Lynn has been teaching a specialized emotion education program she developed in preschool settings called PEEP (Preschool Emotion Education Program). She is currently working with a local college to develop a research project in order to validate the vastly positive effect this program has on the emotional and social development of young children. Lynn has been offering parenting training through her seminars and workshops as well as private coaching sessions since 1999. Additionally, since 1995 Lynn has been offering classes and support groups for adults (and more recently also for children) in techniques of stress management and relaxation training including meditation, breath work, tai chi and chi kung as well as yoga that includes mind-body integrative techniques and somatic (body) awareness methodology. Lynn brings her experience and knowledge from these areas into her work as a counselor. She has completed her certification requirements in a 200 hour training program to and is a certified and registered yoga instructor recognized by Yoga Alliance. Lynn offers yoga classes at several locations in the Marietta area.
